Best Skincare Products For Acne

This guest post was written by lovekyra.co.uk.

The worst feeling in the world is not feeling confident in your own skin. For many young people and a large proportion of adults, the main factor is acne.

Personally, I suffered acne for many years and I would never leave the house without makeup. I tried every product no matter the price tag just praying that one would work. Thankfully, I’ve found several products that have worked and all have a pretty reasonable price tag. These products have all worked for me and although all skin is different, I’m certain that you’ll find one that also combats your most stubborn acne!

Product #1 – Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

This was a product that trended all over Instagram around a year ago, everyone claiming it was “the magic product” for acne. Of course, I was sceptical, I’d been tricked so many times into buying a “miracle” acne product that simply hadn’t worked. Despite my doubts, I took the plunge and purchased it. Best decision ever! All it took was applying a small dab onto stubborn spots every night before I went to sleep. In the morning, I’d wake up, wash my face and be greeted by a greatly reduced spot! Of course no product can completely remove the acne but this did a great job of reducing the size and inflammation! It is quite a high price tag for such a small bottle but mine lasted ages and did the job. If you suffer from painful acne this will definitely help tackle it! In fact, I loved it so much that I included it in my October favourites after only having used it for a few weeks!

Product #2 – Revolution 10% Niacinamide and 1% Zinc

This is a newer discovery for me and it has helped clear my skin immensely. It’s part of my skincare routine every night. I first cleanse and tone then apply this before moisturiser. This is has contributed massively as to why I have my clearest skin yet. It’s very gentle on the skin; I’ve had no issues and it doesn’t have a scent. I’ve found it sinks into the skin quickly, then as you sleep, it gets to work on fighting the acne. If you’re unsure as to what product you’d like to give a go from this post then this would be the one I recommend. It has the lowest price point and it works! My advice however, is to give this one time as it doesn’t have the instant results like the Mario Badescu product.

Product #3 – Revolution 2% salicylic Acid

Originally, I used the Ordinary’s version of this however, when I came to repurchasing, I couldn’t find it anywhere! Thankfully, I stumbled upon the Revolution version and it’s exactly the same. Usually, I’ll apply this one in the morning rather than the Niacinamide and Zinc one and I let it work it’s magic in the day. I can wake up with the angriest spot and by the end of the day it’s far less painful and visible. This one does have a slightly smell but it’s not unpleasant. Also due to this product containing an acid, it does increase your sensitivity to sunlight so ensure you’re also using products with SPF. I’ve been using this for a while now and my skin has improved massively. Not only has it helped with acne but it’s also helped with fading scars which was also a huge problem for me.

Product #4 – Lush Mask of Magnaminty

A classic that I’ve used for years. If you look on the Lush website at all the reviews, you’ll see they’re all positive. You’ll also see that they all says it’s a great mask for acne, and it’s true. I’ve spoke about this product several times on my blog and I’ve even included it in my post on the best masks for acne-prone skin! There are 2 versions of this mask to suit different skin types! One is self-preserving so it has extra honey and this also means it doesn’t dry on to your skin and keeps it hydrated, then there’s the regular version which dries down similarly to a clay mask. This product is full of acne-preventing ingredients such as honey and kaolin (good for cleansing). What I like about this is the ground aduki beans as it gently exfoliates when you wash it off. This makes my skin feel so clean and soft and my face looks instantly refreshed after using it!

Product #5 – Foreo Luna Mini 2

What a journey I’ve had with this! I have written a review on the Foreo Luna Mini 2 and like in all my reviews, I was very honest. Of course it was all over Instagram not so long ago but I wasn’t going to let that sway my views. At first, it did worsen my acne but I soon discovered why. I was pressing down on my skin far too hard as though I was trying to scrub my acne away. This doesn’t work! I started to use it gentler and I also used it once a day rather than the recommended twice. The reasoning for this was that I didn’t want to over-exfoliate my skin. Once I opted for these techniques, my acne started to vanish! Obviously, it took a few weeks but I finally found that it wasn’t a waste of money! Always give your new products a few weeks to work because it may be that your skin purges when you first use it. This means it’s drawing the bad stuff to the surface of your skin so you break out. After continued use, the build up is removed and your clear skin can finally be displayed!

Product #6 – Pixi Glow Tonic

Another holy grail in my skincare routine. I always use a toner especially at night. It ensures that there’s no dirt left on your skin after cleansing- even double cleansing. This is my top choice as it’s a gently exfoliating cleanser. Chemical exfoliating is the best choice for acne-prone skin as it has less chance of irritating your skin. Many dermatologists have suggested that chemical exfoliation is better for everyone as physical exfoliators can tear your skin depending on the type of ingredients used. Not only does the Pixi glow tonic help reduce acne but it also helps your skin glow- hence the name!

There are so many skincare products out there and it’s all about choosing the ones that work for your skin type! I hope one of these products can help!
